Switch : Gtalk
Currently listening to “Fugainaiya” by “Yuki”
Currently bored.. for now
Today, I’m going to make you switch to “Gtalk”. Yep, it’s time to switch, no more excuses. Before we continue, I wanna say something first.
“Other instant messengers suck”
Ok, click read more to continue.
One of the most interesting fact about Gtalk is: it’s simple but still perfectly fulfill it’s purpose – messaging. The interface is really simple and clean. Search for your contacts instantly using the search box. Although other IM already started to use this feature too, Gtalk still rawks since it’s lag free unlike other IMs where there’s a slight lag that freezes your IM for awhile on slow machines .
Damn simple and nice, right? Yahoo! Messenger (YM) and Windows Live Messenger (MSN) offers skinable or customizable looks to.. err.. enhance your chatting experience at the price of your precious memory. But trust me, simple is good. Simple IS REALLY GOOD when you’re chatting with lotsa contacts at the same time.
When everything is too messy ( especially when you’re running other programs like Word processor, music player etc.. ), you can always stack up your Gtalk dialog boxes and switch from tab to tab with “Ctrl + Tab” key.
Another awesome feature is all your chat will be logged into your Gmail account. Yes, all your chats. How kewl is that? Imagine you’re chatting with someone and 5 years later, you still have a record about you whine that you still dun have a girlfriend to that someone. You can easily find your chat with Gmail’s search.
Of course, they are some stuffs that you prefer not to be logged. You can always set your Gtalk to go “off record”.
You can also chat in Gmail. Another kewl feature of Gtalk. Imagine you go to a cyber cafe and that sucky cyber cafe dun have Gtalk. All you need to do is, launch an internet browser, log into your gmail account and viola. Yep, you can chat with your browser in MMU labs.
It feels kinda weird chatting inside a browser? Fine, you can pop-out the chat box and treat it like a normal IM chat box.
And now, Gtalk also supports file transfer. “Blazing” fast file transfer to be exact ( compared with other IMs ).
So, what are you waiting now? Switch now. Get your Gtalk client here: http://talk.google.com
Not many of your friends is using it? Too many friends in your YM or MSN? Well, there are several actions you can take:
- Set your YM and MSN status to “Gtalk Me! http://talk.google.com” or “GTALK IS TEH KEWLEST IM EVAR!!!!!!”
- Convince/Black mail your friend to install Gtalk
- Keep on telling others that other IM SUCKS
Well, i bet you can think of other better ways to convince your friends to switch to Gtalk.

Anyway, been trying to change lots of people over to GMail’s side. Didn’t really use Gtalk, since not a lot of my friends use it.

hmmm… I`m not convince… other IMs are pretty much the same. Opening another IM will just suck up all the memory.. and Im not willing to run without MSN.
