Let’s build a RM7k machine… “Part 2″

Yay! It seems that I’m really getting the 7k machine. I’m getting it on next Saturday.

I still haven’t decided on the specs yet. Since I’m in Melaka, i can only depend on Lowyat’s online price lists, which i dun really trust that much.

Here’s the confirmed components

CPU: Core 2 Duo E6700.
Motherboard: P5N32-SLI Premium/WiFi-AP or P5B Deluxe.
GPU: XFX nVidia GeForce 7950GX2.

Total of those above only = RM5380 roughly. Yes, holyshit indeed. It seems that I can’t get that dreamy Dual Dual Core Xeons because it’s out of my budget. The reason I choose the motherboard is because it supports future Kentsfield processors ( Core 2 Quads ). The GPU… it’s just because I can’t afford the killer Quadro cards ( there are cheap Quadro cards but the on board memory are less than 256MB ).

Yes, it does feel like i’m buying a new gaming machine instead of a graphic work machine. *sigh*.

Maybe I should try to “bodek” my father and look for more business before next Saturday so I can get that Dual Dual Core Xeons…

Any comments on the confirmed components? Your comments are deeply appreciated.

PS: I Can’t use my PC now. It’s in Safe Mode and I’m doing some scans…

    Kakashin: I dun see any blu-ray drives in the list. Even if I found one there, I dun think i’m getting one. Maybe later.

    Damn, u’re so bloody rich. Do u bleed gold? Can i suggest u to get a Raptor? With ur budget, maybe u can even setup RAID.

    H4RRY: I refuse to waste my money on faster disk and RAIDS. I still need some money to buy super cheap monitor for my old pc.

    Don’t buy 750GB’s. Buy a bunch of 320GB’s(most economical nowadays) and set them up in a RAID array. At least if any of them crashes, *only* 320GB is lost.

    Anyways, nice setup IMO. I do agree that you should get the Dual Dual Xeons if you’re going to use it for rendering.

    Edo: Hmm.. I don’t really use RAID’s also, just going along with the flow.

    And electrocuting the casing? Be prepared to spend another 7K at the 1st trigger of your “trap” ;).
