Done. Let’s see what i have to say ’bout this year’s Games Anime Comic Circle 2007 (GACC2007) event. Click ‘Read More’ to continue and this post is seriously not dial-up friendly ( suggest you to read this in your campus, go to your friend’s house with broadband connection or go fix yourself a cup of coffee after clicking “Read More” if you’re using dial-up. NO WAI i’m going to suggest you to get frustrating streamyx ).
Pre-GACC
Okay, there’s nothing much to say about preparing GACC. Like other events, there’s always “drama”. One whining “doing to much work” and, the other whining “doing to much work while others not doing much work” and some rare “doing to much work while others not doing much work while they supposed to do work + i’m taking over their work”. Overall, trying to organize this event is HELL. If you think organizing this event is easy, you are so totally not a Malaysian ~
I’m no longer taking a major part in organizing the event ( although some said that i’m taking a major part in organizing the event ). My work : Design, + Designs, + More Designs, Opening Video and Noise Master ( the ordinaries call it “Deejay” ). Yep, i did all the designs for the banting, poster, t-shirt, website, forms, and the not popular ‘Nerie’ – the GACC mascot.
I also planned the flow of the Opening Ceremony in a way.
Okay, credit bragging session ends here.
GACC2007 was organized by EMiNA MMU Melaka on 17th – 18th March 2007 in attempt to spread awareness to the public that anime games and the like are not kiddy stuff and so much way kewler smoking.
We started deco-ing the MMU’s exam hall on Friday. Looky here:
Okay, that’s the backdrop of the stage. Bleh right? Anything la. It’s better than a blank background me think.
Okay, i’m going to post lotsa picture after this point. Pictures ( again ) tells better story.
This is where the “Noise Team” stationed. The “Noise Team” consist of Edo, Ivan, Khurshid and ‘Yurie.Workstation’. Yep, these 3 people and 1 machine are the ones who supposed to be there. The extras are the lepak-ers.
One of the vendor’s booth. Lotsa items right? Too bad, it’s just… not enough. The vendors reported that they had to keep on “re-stocking” the items from their shop. Wow.
This is the information board. It holds “information”. From the nitty gritty Rules and Regulation to Toru Furuya’s hobby details. Visitors are “supposed” to seek information they want here IF they are mysteriously lazy to refer to the booklet. Huh? Yes, there’s LOTSA information in the booklet if you don’t know yet.
This is how the event hall looks like from the entrance. Yep, you can see the backdrop from the entrance if you ignore the crowd.
The PlayStation2 area are completely ready on Friday night. So, like last year, for those you don’t have a PS2 at home or just wanna brag their l33t skillz to other, this is their chance. Of course, the possibilities of them destroying the equipment before the event are there but very little although the TV set are a bit fucked up. Most probably, this is a scene where you can see the “adults” are “in control” of the equipment, because there’s report saying that “kids” are “in control” of the equipment during the event.
Event
The public can come in at 10am. They have an hour to roam around before the event starts at 11am. Just to make sure that they are crowd paying attention to the opening ceremony later. Everyone can see the countdown on the screen.
As the countdown reaches zero:
The Super Saiyan Boyz starts to kick in with “Rewrite” rock song. As the lead singer/screamer starts singing/screaming, you can hear the crowd laughing/cheering/booing/…-ing/O_O;-ing. Hey, come on, it’s rare to see the President of the club singing/screaming man… Ok, we know the lead singer/screamer suck. At least the crowd cheered wildly ( sorakan kesian kot? ).
Then speeches. I presented my second shortest speech EVER created in my entire life. It was supposed to go like this “Hello, welcome to GACC2007. It’s well known in EMiNA that i’m not giving a speech when I’m giving a speech. You’ll find out in 2 seconds. Thank you” but… I think i’m not that crazy to do that with VIPs around.
Okay, that’s Yeow Li Sa and sitting next to her is Mr Shimada or Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur (JFKL). He loves our event. We love him ( and JFKL’s support ). According to Li Sa, he loves my design and was looking for the designer’s name in the booklet. >:) Well, thanks for the compliments
After Mr.Syukor’s speech, he officiated the event and the AWESOME video plays. The response was like ZOMGHOOLIWOW good. It was so good that the noise station was raided with people after that asking for a copy of the video. WOW. I FEEL SO GOOD. Never felt that good before. It feels so much better than hugging girls in school uniform. Thanks for loving it.
Part of the opening ceremony, there’s a Dance Dance Revolution performance. This guy shows that he can play it with style with his girlfriend ( where we assume that his female dancing partner is his girlfriend ), later showing his l33t solo dancing skillz without even looking at the screen ( heh heh heh, he miss a lot… but he don’t know that… heh heh heh ). Yeah, the crowd loves it.
Ok, then the event starts.
This is Alfred, GACC2007’s emcee. Not a professional emcee but an AWESOME good crowd control guy. He made lotsa dirty jokes but don’t worry, kids won’t understand shit what he’s talking about. Some are complaining that he shouldn’t make any dirty jokes. Lol. We hired him because Khurshid gave us 1001 reasons why he don’t want to become an emcee. FINE. So, we hired him. Then Khurshid jeles.
One of my biggest worries are: the hall is not big enough. The problem “the hall is not big enough” come in IF there’s too many crowd. Last year, we dun really care about it that much because we are worried “if the hall is too big”. Since Toru Furuya is coming, i’m imagining the hall would be packed like canned sardines. It turns out to be that the first day was kinda okay but… the second day is “kinda” too crowded but didn’t reach the ’sardine’ level.
Chinese Orchestra Society came perform in our event and it “shocked and awed” nearly everyone there because it was too good. They also promoted their event after the performance. I hope that gave em a good publicity.
Then first day of GACC2007 ended. It was kinda okay compared to last year. Since we expected that not many people will turn up on the first day, we save the best event for the second day. First day event ended somewhere around 6pm and there are still visitors who are hyped stayed in the hall until 7pm.
This is where I told em to go home and sleep. But noes… everybody’s to hyped and feeling super.
Hall closed to public at 7pm. After that, same scene like the night before : Playing with PS2, wandering around in the hall, performance practices and so on.
I slept at 1am at that night which is kinda.. surprisingly early. I was too tired i guess.
The next day. Everything was kinda the same except with our very special guess: Mr. Toru Furuya. He’s no Maaya Sakamoto ( ZOMG, I’ll be truely be her slave for 3 days if she’s coming ) and i actually don’t even know who the hell he is and i’m not really a fan of him. But who the hell cares? HE’S A VOICE ACTOR FROM JAPAN! Yeah, that fact keeps lot others alive.
Yeah, look at him. There’s a voice actor right in front of you. No no no, don’t look at the girl in pink. She’s just a lucky translator. LUCKY, i tell you. She’s a nervous translator. Dammit, don’t smile dammit. You almost destroyed “MY” event. You LUCKY translator. Back to Mr Toru Furuya: WOW, THERE’S A SEIYUU RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU.
The crowd looooooooves the voice actor so much. Crowd will scream wildly like CRAZEY after every reply. Yep, most probably the crowd will scream wildly if he sneezes on stage. He demo-ed his voice changing skillz in front of us and I was like… “KILL ME, it’s too good to be true”.
“The Cosplay Competition” is one of the BIG thing about GACC. Because it was held on Sunday, they were more crowd on Sunday. With the awesome emcee, the cosplay competition was a blast. Plus, this competition is the first one featuring a judge from Japan. Kewl huh? The winners now have a lifetime bragging right “I won the first cosplay competition in South East Asia judged by a Japanese Seiyuu”. Darn, too cool. Way too cool.
Near the closing, there’s 2 dance performances. One Piece dance lead by Kay Lyn herself and ZOMGWTFKEWLNESS Haruhi Dance. Dammit, I wanna hug the girls in school uniform. I dun care about the opening video feelings anymore…
Then, as the finale, i sing/scream a song for a proper ending of GACC. Wow, what a disastrous ending to a great event. Wow, thank you very much, Mr. President. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA. After that, I let Comic Fiesta people hijack the stage for a group photo.
Overall? IT’S A GREAT SUCCESS OF COURSE. Of course it’s a success. The probability the event will rawk is higher than the chance of me getting a cute girlfriend. Dammit, i still wanna hug those girls in school uniform.
Okay, where’s the bad part of the event. Oh ya, that’s destructive malay girl in white tudung. If the security head is allowed to carry guns, i would ask him to drag the kid upstage and call for the parent. After we find the parent, we going to hold the parent and shoot the girl at the neck at point blank on the stage in front of public. Yes, the scene would be so epic that everyone in the world will remember how epic GACC2007 is. Of course, it could solve the ninja-ing problem also.
So yeah, remember kids: Your death would be, epic…
Garbage problem, i dun really know about that. Tshirt sold out too fast, sorry, the design is too good i guess >:) . Too many Naruto stuff, didn’t really notice. And more small small stuff. We’ll try not to repeat that again next year.
Just wish that there’s going to be another GACC next year.

The dancing couple is not couple. They are brothers and sisters, if not mistaken. Their surname are the same and almost identical. :D
It was really a nice event. :D

By the way, 1 thing…
You know the cloth that you guys used to cover the table at the Gundam models and kits display? It was purple. Black would have been better as it makes the object stands out in the picture.
My office’s photographer was complaining about the cloth as it was purple and the Gundams are in white / blue colour, no contrast in the picture.
Just a small thing. :)
on March 28th 2007 at 1:40 pm
Very sorry about the purple cloth, we are actually run out of the table clothes (budget problem) and there wasn’t any table cloth for the table itself.
Luckily we manage to savage some leftover table clothes in exam hall hidden room ^^ and the purple one was one of the darkest color i could find.
Thanks for noticing the gundam section and you could always ask the committee to let you inside the room for better photo taking.
Any other comment on the gundam section? (Other than more entry :) )

Haha, finally got the full committee picture. I feel a bit embarrassed to be in it too considering I wasn’t really in the committee at all… but meh :P.
Anyways, any plans to reprint the t-shirts. I couldn’t manage to get my hands on one. This year’s t-shirt design is really quite awesome.
P.S. Edo, we don’t mind bad singing, but at least hafal lar the lyrics. :P.
