Pirates of the Caribbean 3: Waste Me 9 Bucks

I enjoyed the first movie. The 2nd movie was also quite entertaining. But the 3rd movie, i can smell “let’s make big bucks out from this franchise” attitude and sprinkled with clichés everywhere. Yes, this movie suck.

I dun even know where to start. I just feel like randomly whine and bitch aimlessly, but that would be uncool because most probably you guys won’t understand wat i’m trying to say.

Let’s talk about the plot first. The story arcs. Too many story arcs. First they wanna get the map, then go to the “locker” then get out. After that, fight over ship ownership. Then “trying” to get to pirate meeting. Concluded with full scale armada war that only involved 2 ships fighting. In between those, there’s some mini-chapters that wouldn’t effect the story much. What’s the deal with Calypso stuff? And wat’s with Davey Jones become so… pathetic and not so “scary” anymore?

This remind me of an old movie “Krull” where they’re trying to fit lotsa chapters into a single movie.

The pace of the movie – terrible. It’s a roller coaster ride: up and down, fast and slow. For sure, they talk a lot. Sure, they wanna explain stuff but I’m really sure they can do it better than that. Oh, to kill boringness they add cheesy “funny” one-liners. All the way, I keep on begging “come on, show me the action stuff and shut the fuck up”.

Characters. There’s too many of them and each of them carries their own twisted plot… just to make the whole movie more complicated. Gee.. I dunno… maybe ‘complicated movies’ is the “IN” thing now. Chow Yun Fatt appeared as a loser and died as a loser too. They could always use some random chinese guy but NOO they want Chow Yun Fatt just because it’s kool to include him in the poster. I hate Will Turner like crazy now. And what’s with that bitch Swann whore? Too bad i’m lazy to write now because if I’m not, I’ll definitely complain ’bout each character here.

Graphics. I dun really care. I would care about the graphics if we are talking about Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.

Okay, fine. Good points bout the movie. “Action” and “Cinematography”. The actions during the final chapter is really good + cool cinematography makes the whole scene entertaining to watch. In a way, it did make me forget about the 1hour 3minutes of bullshit for awhile. Of course, cheesy scenes are always there, like the marriage thingamajig. The one-liner jokes are lame but it’s still a joke, so it’s quite entertaining when they spit it out randomly.

Ratings on RottenTomatoes were 50% when i watch the movie, but it dropped to 47% today. Keep on getting bad reviews i guess?

Oh yeah, there’s extra scene in the middle of the credits. Something not worth to wait, but no harm waiting. It shows Will came back after 10 years and… that’s all. Credit continues after that.

I watched the movie twice. On Thursday with out huge motherfucker right in front of me who doesn’t know how to stay low and on Friday without huge motherfucker right in front of me. At first, I thought the movie sucked because I can’t see properly, but after watching it twice, I’m convinced that it suck.

Sigh.

PS: Give me “My Neighbor Totoro” anytime…
