What Is Fate?

Currently having a slight fever
What is fate? Is it God’s divine intervention power? Is it a series of coincidences? Or is it just something that we made up so some thing sounds cool?
Let’s say that I’m having a Chicken Porridge in Ixora Food Court. Is it fate that made me eat it because I dropped multiple subject and extended my studies in MMU?
How about bunch of girls dying to play LocoRoco on my PSP? Is it fate that made that happen because Syukor realized my skillz in video editing and gave me a job so I can buy the PSP?
Having lunch with my OC friend and end up sitting at the same table with Hsia-Liang’s girlfriend. Is it fate that made me sit there because I didn’t join the Japan Homestay Program and end up with the Orientation Committee?
I can make up lotsa “fates” by digging up my history and chaining em’ together to make em look like one. So, what’s fate then?
A loud abnormal erratic individual with extreme interest in arts. A Maaya Sakamoto die-hard fan who worships Totoro. Blogs about random stuff that goes around him. Rarely blog, because lately he's just either too busy or just too lazy.

for example, you go to jj today, and you get a beautiful girlfriend…
and if you didnt, you didnt get girlfriend…
Edo: That kills the whole purpose of “fate” I think. More like “cause and effect” to me…

Edo: Note: My friend invited me to lunch ( refer to previous post, last picture, Sue Ern ). At the table, there’s 2 girls and 1 guy. 1 girl is my friend, another one is her good friend and another guy is trying to flirt with my friend. Since the guy sat next to my friend, the only spot left was next to her good friend/hsia liang’s gf. I’M INNOCENT. I dunno anything. That was yesterday. I only found out about it later today when my friend asked me “You should know Hsia-Liang, rite? The one sitting next to you yesterday was his gf”. *Shocked*
Why are we talking about her? I’m talking bout fate here ~

hmm.. i was always think about the same thing too edo. let’s say i’m replying to your post now, is it a fate? Is it fated that I’m suppose to reply to you now? What if I don’t reply? What will I do then? Well I won’t know coz I’ve already reply to you. It looks like an opportunity cost in Economic to me. Wikipedia it if you don’t know what opportunity cost is

Fate is when something you never expect to happen, happens. Like it’s fate that I met you, but it’s not fate that made both of us decide to join EMiNA. We could have both joined but if we were not fated to meet, we never would. And even if we did meet, if we’re not fated to be friends, we never would.
Get it? :)

I believe you’re thinking too much into it. If something is fated, then there’s nothing you can do to change it and if it isn’t then all you can do is hope for the best to happen from anything you do. Personally I don’t believe in Fate because I believe that our choices shape the outcome of things, but as human beings we always make lousy decisions due to our lack of foresight.
Why are you in such a contemplative mood anyway? Thinking about your inability to find a gf and trying to blame it on something else?
Edo: People around me keep on chanting “ZOMG! It’s fate, I tell you. It’s fate that made us together!” or something like dat while some other religious body keep on chanting “It’s fate. It’s destiny. Bla bla bla. They should die. Bla bla bla. He deserves it. Bla bla bla. God’s will”. I too don’t believe in fate, because this “fate” thing looks like a make up thing to me. Fates usually sounds cool even though we made bad decisions in life.

What does Hsia Liang’s GF got to do with fate?
She’s ur long lost sister or something?
Edo: It’s just an example. The fate in that example could be: I sat next to her because I joined OC so I get to know this particular OC who knows her, or because I extended my studies that allows me to join Orientation Committee, or because my SPM result is bad enough to be rejected by Faculty of Creative Multimedia that made me stayed in Melaka OR it’s because my mom fell in love with my dad that allows me to be here in the first place. Digging up my history and chaining em together can make it look like complicated series of “cause and effects”.

You’re right. It’s something destined to be. It’s appointed to happen to you. It was planned to happen by God’s mysterious ways, they say.
You’re right too when fate sounds cool when bad decisions happen. You made a bad turn in life, blame it on fate.
And yes, when you put up stories together to explain what made you to sit next to someone’s gf, it turns into cause & effect.
Fate is… complicated to be explained. I disagree on fate too. For me, whatever decisions we take in life; good or bad, we made that. Not fate that made it.
Point is, you’re right in everything you said but all of us here replying you are still clueless on what fate really is.
So, me & your brother… is that fated or coincidence? XD
p/s: Nikki’s reply got some point. If she’s fated to reply to you, there’s something else she wasn’t able to do at the same time. Seems like opportunity cost to me too. But doesn’t really explain fate. Good luck in searching the answer.

I see no significance of Hsia Liang’s GF when she’s like the reason u started this post.
It’s like OMG, i saw edo in PS twice today. Huh? U lost me.
This is comparable to the debate about the meaning of life or whether just breathing the air when we go back in time for a few seconds would alter history significantly.
Edo: Haiyo.. Why you so blur one? This GF thingie is just an example lah. Read my post, dun get influenced by the comments. About the breathing air thingie, maybe you’re talking about the butterfly effect, but we are not changing history here. I’m talking about people chaining up stories of their history to make it look like “fate”.

Fate is meeting something unevitable/unavoidable.
But many ppl mistaken it for coincidence or predicted events.
aih, in other words.. pre-written events which was kept secret from us, by the hidden force.
I studied this thing carefully, and the more I knew, the more I dont know (understand) about it. It* keeps up with our knowleadge limit (including predicted events), and comes out with something even more interesting than that.
Imo, fate has something to do with the unseen force, and the lauh mahfuz / records of time.
