Chronicles of Edo: The Office, The Computer, and The Loneliness

Alone, in the office again. My supervisor took a day off. Supervisor gave me assignments: Assignment A, Assignment B, and Assignment C. Finish em all by today.

8.15am
There’s this one random guy in the office lobby reading newspapers. There’s bread in my left hand. Straight away went to my office and power up my pc. Starts Firefox and doing surfing randomly. Checked mail and “accidentally” logged on to Facebook.

8.30am
Time for breakfast. Zamzuri in the office lobby talking to the random guy. Said hi, and straight away went to the kitchen. Make breakfast. Since my supervisor is not around, I made extra and took his part of the bread. Head back to the office.

8.40am
Starts Photoshop and Illustrator. Start working on “Assignment A”…. Stare at “Assignment A”. Try to do something with “Assignment A”. Start working on “Assignment A”. Got bored. Plugged in iPod for some tunes. Saw “Firefox” at the taskbar. Tried to close it… but end up checking on Facebook “accidentally”.

9.30am
Some progress on “Assignment A”. Microsoft Windows XP tries to show it’s capability of inducing some stress to the user: Photoshop crashed and I forgot to save my changes to “Assignment A”. Restarted Photoshop. Demoralized. Feeling lame. “Accidentally” visited Facebook again.

10am
Got sleepy. Googled “How to stay awake”. Tips given is not useful enough. Stare at “Assignment A”. Opened Pidgin ( YM / MSN ), nearly all the girls are busy. “Accidentally” visited Facebook again.

10.10am
Found out that supervisor is coming to the office for a while. Need to prove that I actually did something. Focused on “Assignment A”.

10.40am
Supervisor came into the office and starts whining over office stuffs. Showed “Assignment A” to him. Supervisor then “lepak” in the room for awhile. He’s talking about random stuff happened to him last night and Battlestar Galactica pilot episodes that I gave him yesterday. “Accidentally” visited Facebook again. Supervisor left me alone.

11.30am
Feeling too lonely. Went to the window and start observing the Security guy feeling lame from upstairs. He scribbles something on logbook. Takes some phone call. Walk around within 10 meter radius. Feels like I’m observing a cat. Got bored. Start to focus on work again. Tried to close Firefox but “accidentally” browsed Facebook.

12.30pm
Got extremely too sleepy. Artwork nearly gone pink. Can’t even hold a pen properly. Went to the toilet to wash face. Met with one of the ‘Akaks’ on the way to the toilet. Start working on “Assignment A” again. No Little progress so far. Opened Firefox to look for inspirations but “accidentally” end up in Facebook.

12.59pm
Stared at the computer clock for nearly 2 minutes.

1pm
Lunch time. No time for lunch. Need to go to town to do stuffs. Went to SPR first to get money from someone. That particular someone haven’t withdraw money and it will take more a very long time to wait in the queue in front of the ATM machine. Demoralized to do anything. Whine about how lame I felt and my accidental “accidents” with Facebook. Slept in SPR.

1.40pm
Phone alarm rang. Set it “snooze”. Went back to sleep.

1.45pm
Realized that 5 minutes flew to fast. Went to Kak Shikin’s shop and bought 2 bread + Green Tea.

2.00pm
Went to my PC and there’s a chat window on screen. It was a girl, whining about her boring life. Worked on “Assignment A” while talking to her. Also “accidentally” opened Facebook.

2.15pm
She went off, she sounded happy after talking to me. Feel good a bit. Thye Shin showed me a dreaded site of Friendster. Felt like I’ve committed a sin by browsing Friendster alone so I “accidentally” visited Facebook to neutralize everything. At the same time, worked on “Assignment A”. Bored. Start writing this blog post.

2.56pm
I finish writing this post, with Facebook “accidentally” in different browser tab.

Edo might die today.
