edTips : 3 Things You Should NOT Put In Your Blog

Sometimes I visit random blogs that I didn’t aggregate in my RSS feed : That would mean, load the entire blog itself. Normal stuff. But one of my main problems when visiting other people’s blog is they’re trying to make their blog as l33t as possible. Especially girls, I don’t know why.

These tips are purely based on my opinion, not representing every readers out there. But I’m trying to save those who are annoyed with these silly things. So here we go:

Music

Refrain yourself from “adding” music apps in your blog. Plz. For my sake at least.

Imagine I was listening to my heavy “Black Mages” rocking out from my speaker and suddenly when I visit your blog, “Siti Nurhaliza” sings along ( or imagine listening to ‘System of a Down’ and ‘Aya Hirano’ at the same time ). For a guy who uses A LOT OF TABS while browsing, it’s hell trying to hunt down where that “sound” came from.

Adding music in the background does not bring extra ambiance that can increase your reader’s visiting experience bla bla bla. It does not. NOT. In fact, it annoys me to the boot.

Not only I had to listen to your music, it significantly consumed a lot of my bandwidth ( worsening my internet experience with my shitty bandwidth connection ). Even though it’s paused at start, it’s still consumes my bandwidth.

It’s really not cool. Don’t force us to listen to your musical taste. If you wanna let people know your music taste so much, there’s Last.FM for that.

So please, why not remove that “music app”? I won’t hurt, really. I wanna read your blog, not listen to your blog.

Flash Header

No. It does not make your blog look cool. Lightweight or not, everytime I click a different page in your blog it refreshes ( extra annoying if it makes any noise ). It’s stupid and you shouldn’t brag about it to your friends.

I used to make this silly mistake and please don’t repeat it.

Ridiculous Background Images

NO! You can’t use that 1280×1024 px wallpaper image as your background. It’s ridiculously too big ( and extra annoying if it’s too colourful ).

Also, for the love of God and every living thing on Earth : Please don’t use FLASHY animated background. The last thing you want is readers getting seizure reading your blog. It’s FUCKING annoying. Really.

Get a simple background image, please.
