Bon Odori 2009 : The mid-year Japanese festival @ Panasonic Sports Centre, 18 July 2009. This would be my 7th visit to the Bon Odori, and it’s pretty much the same and no one is expecting it to be different because it’s.. GOOD. As usual, I joined the EMiNA Melaka’s trip.
Nothing new, it’s the same old Bon Odori. I attended this festival every year without fail mainly because of the cultural dance. Also, the food and meeting up a lot of friends from KL.
But too bad this year I didn’t participate in any of the dances because of the “air quality”. Weirdly, this year’s Bon Odori is quite “dusty”. You can see clouds of dust in the air like a sandstorm is raiding the party. It was quite scary.
This year I didn’t plan on wearing yukata because I already did for the previous year ( plan to wear it once 2 years ). But, I did force someone else to wear. Heh heh heh.
I didn’t eat much that day because the EMiNA Melaka gang raided Subway for sandwiches at Berjaya Times Square before we leave to the stadium, and I was still kinda full. I drink a lot though. Cheap LIVITA FTW.
What’s unique about this year’s Bon Odori is member’s addiction to the Japanese Sake, and a lot of people were drunk in the bus. People were so HIGH in the bus, they talk non-stop until they lost their voices. I too lost my voice, naturally… and I didn’t drink. I think Navin consumed 7 cups of sake. I’m pretty sure “sake” is the new motivation to go to Bon Odori now. Heh.
Of course, others were near dead due to the cheap LIVITA burned their energies.

Hmm…glad to see you enjoy Bon Odori. As for me, I won’t be going anytime soon. Basically I’m tired of the same routine over and over again. Sure meeting old friends would be awesome, but the journey before that is tiresome.
So, if I’m going to Bon Odori next year, will only go if I get a car to go. Again, the mood still counts too.
edo: it’s never a good idea to go there with a car. parking is.. hell.
